Walk of the Month: Around Crook O’Lune
We like to help you explore the area whilst you’re staying with us. For those of you that can get out on foot, we hope our monthly walks help give you a little inspiration whether you visit us weekly, monthly or just once a year.
For June we are recommending a leisurely and relaxing route through the Lune Valley.
Where to wander this month: Crook O’ Lune, Caton
This short loop walk along a dramatic stretch of river offers wondering views of the Lune Valley.
The details:
Distance: 2.7 miles
Approx. Time: Approx. 1 hour
Terrain: Fields and riverbanks which can be muddy. Some steep steps and uneven paths. The Waterworks bridge has metal grilles underfoot, and there are a number of kissing gates and narrow bridges between the fields.
Important info:
Dogs should be kept under close control, ideally on a lead. Please make sure to follow the countryside code.
The route:
It will take you around 30 minutes to drive to the start of this walk from our park, with parking at the Crook O’ Lune car park. There are public toilets available there (limited opening hours) and Woodies Cafe is also open seasonally. There are other refreshment options available in Caton.
