Walk of the Month: Oxenber Wood Circular
We like to help you explore the area whilst you’re staying with us. For those of you that can get out on foot, we hope our monthly walks help give you a little inspiration whether you visit us weekly, monthly or just once a year.
For May we are recommending a route that springs to life with an abundance of wildflowers, particularly bluebells at this time of year.
Where to wander this month: Oxenber Wood circular.
This moderate circular loop takes in the lovely nearby villages of Austwick and Feizor, along with historic woodland and some stunning valley views to boot!
The details:
Distance: 4.4miles (7.2km)
Approx. Time: Approx. 2 hours
Terrain: Tracks, fields, roads, gates & stiles. Can be wet underfoot. Short ascent halfway round.
Important info:
This route passes through some farmland, so be aware of livestock and please leave gates how you find them. Please make sure to follow the countryside code.
The route:
It will take you around 15 minutes to drive to the start of this route. In Austwick you can find a shop, a pub and toilets, and in Feizor there is a tea rooms.
