Walk of the Month: Lune Aqueduct & Lancaster Loop

We like to help you explore the area whilst you’re staying with us. For those of you that can get out on foot, we hope our monthly walks help give you a little inspiration whether you visit us weekly, monthly or just once a year.

For November we have a loop walk that passes historical sites in Lancaster linked by two lovely flat riverside and canal side paths.

Where to wander this month:

Check out Lancaster Castle, a Priory, listed churches and more on this historical loop walk.

The details:

Distance: 4.2 miles (6.7km)

Approx. Time: 1 hour 45 mins

Terrain: Flat riverside and canal side paths, with a section through the streets of Lancaster

Important info:  Remember to follow the countryside code and to prepare for all weather conditions. Watch out for cyclists on the canal path.

The route:

The route starts and ends at the Canal & River Trust car park next to McDonalds on the Caton road.  It is a 30 minute drive to the start of the walk from Riverside.

Parking is available in the above car park.

If you don’t fancy a McDonalds there are plenty of places to eat & drink in Lancaster for a mid or post walk treat.

Grab your walking boots and view the route here.

Walk maps for this walk and many others can be found in our park reception and you can view all of our other walk recommendations here.

Let us know if you’ve enjoyed the route and share your snaps on our social media pages so others can be inspired.
