Walk of the Month: March 2018
Where to wander this month: Devil’s Bridge Wander
As the winter weather starts to leave us, here is our first Walk of the Month – on a well surfaced and tarmac route – well it is only March!
This 1.5 mile route takes in views of Devil’s Bridge and the River Lune, a visit to Ruskin’s View and meanders through Kirkby Lonsdale’s historic streets.
Starting at Devil’s Bridge, just this side of Kirkby Lonsdale, there is plenty of parking, large grassy areas with benches and a tea wagon.
Following the well surfaced path on the town side of the bridge you will head towards the Radical Steps along the side of the river.
After climbing Radical steps turn to the right for a short distance to admire Ruskin’s View.
Turning back in the opposite direction head through St Mary’s Churchyard, through the swine market, and along Horse Market Street.
From here you can explore the Town by taking one of the turns on the right, or to continue back to Devil’s Bridge follow Horse Market street to the end, and the tarmac road back to the bridge.
