Walk of the Month: Kendal town trails
We like to help you explore the area whilst you’re staying with us. For those of you that can get out on foot, we hope our monthly walks help give you a little inspiration whether you visit us weekly, monthly or just once a year.
Where to wander this month: Kendal town trails
The details: Three different trails focusing on a different aspect of Kendal, whether you’re into culture, nature or history. Kendal is a market town and the gateway to the Lake District.
Approx. Time: 1 hour per trail
Terrain: Each trail offers scenic spots and viewpoints and follow popular paths. The woodland trail in particular can have a few muddy spots. There are some sections that have a steep incline or steps.
Important info: Make sure to wear appropriate footwear, and keep dogs on leads.
The route:
Antique Trail: Head into Kendal’s distinctive yards and ancient streets in search of the abundance of shops bursting with ingesting and unique artefacts. View the route here
Woodland trail: Prefer to head to the green spaces? This family-friendly trail takes you to the leaf corners of this local town. This 1.2 mile walk winds its way though an alphabet sculpture trail, offering an education and interactive experience. All of the sculptures have been crafted by Kendal’s own artists and makers. Historical trail: This route lets you enjoy wandering the famous cobbled streets, learn more about the Unitarian Castle built in 1720 and explore the ruins of Kendal Castle. View the historical trail route here
