Walk of the Month: Levens Deer Park

We like to help you explore the area whilst you’re staying with us. For those of you that can get out on foot, we hope our monthly walks help give you a little inspiration whether you visit us weekly, monthly or just once a year.

In October enjoy a wander through Levens Deer park, a lovely public walk through private  timeless scenery, that is home to a herd of black fallow deer and a herd of rare-breed Bagot goats. Then treat yourself to a post walk treat at Levens Kitchen.

Where to wander this month: Levens deer park

This walk can be done as two separate linear walks along each side of the river, or as a circular route which briefly takes you out of the estate grounds, before returning into the estate on the other side of the river.

The details:

Distance: 3 miles approx.

Approx. Time: 1/1.5 hours approx.

Terrain: fields, tracks, roads, some steps and stiles

Important info:  Remember to follow the countryside code and to prepare for all weather conditions. Dogs must be kept on a lead at all times within the Deer Park.

The route:

The route starts and ends just across the road from Levens Hall.  It is a 40 minute drive to the start of the walk from Riverside.

Parking is available in a public layby just down the road from the entrance to the deer park.

For a post walk treat head into Levens Kitchen at Levens Hall for a seasonally inspired menu, or grab a takeaway coffee & cake from their outdoor kiosk.

Grab your walking boots and view the route here.

Walk maps for this walk and many others can be found in our park reception and you can view all of our other walk recommendations here.
